WELCOME TO
ENABLED MUSIC SCHOOL
ABOUT US
At Enabled Music we are a team of passionate music teachers who strive to fast-track your music journey, enabling tomorrow’s musicians today.
The school was founded by Richardt Mare in 2014, and together with JP Cordier, we compiled a syllabus, drawing on our combined teaching experience of 25 years. Music theory is seamlessly incorporated into the practical repertoire, keeping it fun. The course was designed to be fluid and to meet the needs of all students, young and old, beginner or advanced, including a variety of music genres. Regardless of whether you dream of becoming a professional musician or just want to impress your friends around a campfire, the student sets the pace.
The course includes a weekly one-on-one lesson with one of our proficient, patient, instrument specialists who will provide personal attention. A unique feature of our course are our annual student recital shows, where each student will perform a piece from their newly-acquired repertoire. This provides a great incentive and opportunity to enjoy musicmaking with others.

MEET OUR TEACHERS
Richardt is the founder and principal of Enabled Music School. He studied jazz and contemporary music at Tshwane University of Technology. He has played in numerous bands and in theaters. He is also a music producer, working with the likes of Tokollo Magesh of TKZee fame. He has been teaching music since 2014. He specialises in guitar and bass guitar, and also teaches vocals, songwriting/music production and beginner piano.
Away from the studio Richardt is a keen cook and pasta maker, and he loves cats, hence the nickname Khati. You are more than likely to meet at least one of his cats keeping him company at the studio.
TEACHER
After completing her B. Mus degree, Alex went on to do an honours degree in music, specialising in performance and composition, then topping it off with a Masters’ degree in Music Therapy. She has a background in classical and jazz music and teaches piano, keyboard, vocals, beginner bass, songwriting and composition. She is our preparatory music specialist, and will be heading our new “Music Fun for Little Ones” programme focussed on music for pre-schoolers. Johannesburg-born, bred (and buttered), Alex is passionate about music and people. She considers herself to be a big kid at heart and when she is not teaching, learning, or creating music, she enjoys snacks, cartoons, and interesting animal facts.
HEAD OF MUSIC
JP, endearingly christened Jellapiep by his students, has 17 years of experience teaching/directing/producing music. He believes that every musical note counts and makes sure that no student leaves without knowing the ins & outs of making, creating and sharing music. He is not only our specialist drum teacher, but also teaches guitar, bass, vocals and music production. JP co-develops the Enabled Music syllabus with Richardt. When he isn't busy teaching, he is also a singer/songwriter and a seasoned live musician. He loves animals and reading books like "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" & "Paul Simon: The Life.
TEACHER
Esta learnt to play the piano and flute in a much earlier life. She holds a degree in Communication, an honours degree in psychology. Citing infinite patience as her best quality, Esta will be involved in the “Music Fun for Little Ones” programme.
Having worked as a translator for decades, she is passionate about languages and loves to pack her bags to travel the world. When at home, she likes to dabble in sewing, painting and gardening.
